Letter from Our Founder

Dear Founoun Community,

I am delighted to share with you the journey that led to the creation of Founoun, an endeavor born from a lifelong passion for art, culture, and a profound connection to Islamic, Arabic, and Andalusian heritage.

Having traversed the globe, living and working in diverse countries such as Tunisia, the UAE, Switzerland, France, Spain, and Germany, I gathered experiences that shaped my worldview. Armed with a master's in international business and a background in management consulting, the dream of entrepreneurial adventure always lingered. Yet, it wasn't until my encounter with the late Mr. Mohamed Ali Saadi, a revered artist and family friend, that the seeds of Founoun were sown.

As a young boy, I found inspiration in the captivating world of art during visits to Mr. Saadi's gallery in Carthage. The idea for Founoun truly took root when I sought a calligrapher and was introduced to my partner, the gifted Karim Dhahri, by Mr. Saadi. Our shared love for calligraphy, art, and the rich history of the Islamic Civilization fostered a collaboration that would become the backbone of Founoun.

A pivotal moment in my artistic journey occurred at the age of 12 during a tour of Andalusia, where the awe-inspiring Alhambra Palace left an indelible mark. Over the years, my aesthetic preferences evolved from realism to contemporary, modernism, minimalism, abstract, and futurism. However, it was the beauty of Arabic, Islamic, and Andalusian art that resonated most deeply with my spirit.

Founoun is not only an artistic label that aims to gather the elite of the elite in the calligraphy art form globally and makes this unique art accessible to the whole world, but also a space that connects people who are passionate about what we stand for and who want to discuss and spread knowledge of our deep heritage and awesome history.
